Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society (XAE)

Founded at West Chester University of Pennsylvania, Chi Alpha Epsilon (XAE) National Honor Society was formed to recognize the academic achievements of students admitted to colleges and universities through Opportunity Programs. Its purposes are to promote continued high academic standards, foster increased communication among its members, and honor academic excellence. Membership in Chi Alpha Epsilon requires a 3.0 or better for two consecutive semesters, and is offered through Binghamton University’s Gamma Delta chapter.

On February 7, 2004, Binghamton University’s Educational Opportunity Program held a chartering and induction ceremony. At this first induction ceremony, the academic achievements of 41 students were recognized. Honorary inductees were Robert James, Associate Vice Provost for Opportunity Programs, State University of New York and Rodger Summers, Vice President for Student Affairs. Dr. Elbert Saddler, founder of Chi Alpha Epsilon, was the guest speaker.

All future induction ceremonies will be held each fall. Eligible students will receive a letter in the fall semester indicating their eligibility for the National Honor Society. For more information regarding Chi Alpha Epsilon, please contact Vanessa N. Young, XAE Advisor, or Dr. James H. Pogue, EOP Director, located at the EOP Office, SW 233, or call 777-2791.
